I was incarcerated in 2012 and blessed to find writing inside VT shortly after my arrival. I immediately felt welcomed and safe in the group. The threads of our souls intertwined and we were no longer alone. Before the group, I was extremely suicidal. After my first class, I realized suicide was not the answer. People in the group understood me, appreciated me and were there to help me fight the demons that I could not purge on my own. writing inside VT saved my life.

The impact the group had on me is immeasurable. I can now proudly claim to be a published author; have appeared on television; and been directly quoted via the AP in the Washington Post. If not for the amazing program of writing inside VT, none of that would have been a possibility.  Having learned new skills in that group, my possibilities now as a free woman are limitless. Writing is a daily part of my very fulfilling life.
